Subscription broadcaster Eleven Sports has retained its linear broadcast and digital rights in Belgium to North America’s NBA in a “multi-year” deal announced today (Wednesday).
The agreement will allow Eleven to air four live regular-season games each week, along with the play-offs and full coverage of the NBA Finals. The matches shown will include all fixtures played at European primetime slots.
The NBA All-Star Game and regular highlights programmes will also be offered by the Aser Ventures-owned broadcaster.
Earlier this month, Eleven retained its rights to American football’s NFL in Belgium, Luxembourg and Portugal.
Guillaume Collard, managing director of Eleven Sports Belgium and Luxembourg and head of acquisitions for Eleven Group, said: “We know how committed Belgian basketball fans are to our NBA package and we want to continue to offer them the best possible coverage of their favourite teams across all of our platforms. We’re delighted to be continuing our collaboration with the NBA in the seasons ahead.”
Elsa Memmi, the NBA’s EME (Europe, Middle East) vice-president, global media distribution, said that NBA fans in Belgium would “continue to enjoy localised NBA programming tipping off tomorrow with what promises to be a thrilling matchup between the Lakers versus Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals”.
