Pan-Asian sports pay-television broadcaster ESPN Star Sports has sealed a new carriage agreement with Singapore pay-television broadcaster StarHub and has renewed its carriage deal with rival operator SingTel.
The ESS agreement with StarHub is for various services including sports channels ESPN, Star Sports, ESPN HD, ESPNEWS, Star Cricket and Star Cricket HD along with broadband and mobile services via ESPN Player and Mobile ESPN respectively.
StarHub will begin the transmission of ESS television networks and ESPN Player from December 14 and will launch the Mobile ESPN service later this month.
SingTel’s multi-year extension with ESS includes all its services across television, broadband and mobile platforms. ESS has been offering its services on SingTel’s mio TV platform since 2009 when it first launched its sports news channel, ESPNEWS.
Peter Hutton, managing director of ESPN Star Sports, said: “We’re very happy to be reaching the widest possible pay-television audience in Singapore by new agreements with both major platforms. We now offer increased visibility to our advertising clients and to the sports organisations with whom we work on a secure long term basis.”
