International sports broadcaster Eurosport has agreed a pan-European, multi-platform rights deal with the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM).
Eurosport will show coverage of various major UIPM events across its platforms throughout 2017.
UIPM competitions covered by the one-year agreement include the 2017 World Cup Final in Vilnius, Lithuania, from June 23-26, and the World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, from August 21-29.
In addition, Eurosport will work with the UPIM to promote modern pentathlon and activate the global governing body’s commercial partnerships through a dedicated promotional platform, comprising television and digital activations.
The deal will mean that more than half of the sports due to feature at the 2020 summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, will receive coverage on Eurosport over the next 12 months.
UIPM president Klaus Schormann said: “This is another major step forward for our core Olympic sport, which has benefited in recent years from great advances in media coverage and marketing.”
