The English Football Association, the sport’s national governing body, has said that there are plans to stream live coverage of selected football matches via a new Mandarin-language version of the TheFA.com website.
The FA said that the website, which is being launched to coincide with the semi-finals of the FA Cup domestic club knockout tournament this weekend, would initially provide video highlights and footage of player interviews, as well as other news and statistics.
The association said that “plans are also in place” for the website to show selected FA Cup and England national team matches live in the future.
“Our key intention is to increase interaction with fans of the England team in China, and those who avidly follow the FA Cup,” the FA’s head of global business development, Sean McAuliffe, said. “Most of the content of the Mandarin website will be translated from TheFA.com but also a significant contribution to the website will be local content provided by our existing partners in the region.”
