Fiba, the global governing body of basketball, is keen to explore further multi-cast partnerships with national federations following a successful two-game collaboration with Swiss Basketball.
Fiba teamed up with the body to broadcast Switzerland’s EuroBasket 2017 qualifying matches against Cyprus last Wednesday and Iceland on Saturday.
The games were simulcast on Swiss Basketball’s official pages on social media platform Facebook and video-sharing service YouTube. Fiba’s French and global Facebook pages, as well as its YouTube channel, also broadcast the matches.
Swiss Basketball produced the games, with Fiba providing the technical services to live stream the action across the various platforms.
Switzerland’s clash with Cyprus reached over 56,000 viewers in total. Fiba said in a statement: “The project is already deemed a success. Fiba are looking to get more federations involved so even more national teams can multi-cast games.”
