Fina, the global governing body of aquatic sports, has agreed an eight-year rights deal with Brazilian pay-television broadcaster Globosat.
The agreement comprises rights to Fina events in the Brazilian territory from 2015 to 2022 – a period which includes the 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 World Championships.
Also contained in the deal are the World Swimming Championships (25m) in 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022; the Diving World Cup in 2018, 2020 and 2022 and the Synchronised Swimming World Cup in 2018 and 2022.
Fina president Julio Maglione said: “Brazil is a very solid Fina partner and its importance in the aquatic world is reinforced by this partnership. Rio de Janeiro will stage in 2016 the Olympic Games and the added-value our aquatic disciplines are bringing to the programme of the Games will create a renovated dynamic of our sport in this immense country.”
