Grand Prix Sports snaps up indoor volleyball rights

Grand Prix Sports, a division of the Grand Prix Entertainment agency, has acquired global broadcast rights for professional men’s and women’s indoor volleyball events organised by the USA Volleyball national governing body.

Under the deal, which starts immediately and runs for six years through to 2018, Grand Prix Sports also purchased licensing rights to events in the United States.

Grand Prix Sports will exploit rights surrounding all USA Volleyball events, including the new Premier Volleyball League, which launched earlier this year across the US. The league will expand next year to include a men’s competition after the inaugural women’s campaign took place this year.

“The creation of a professional indoor volleyball league is the last piece of the puzzle in taking the game to the next level,” USA Volleyball chief executive Doug Beal said. “USA Volleyball is excited to partner with Grand Prix Entertainment’s sports and entertainment team. Their extensive expertise in sports, broadcast and entertainment convinced us to make this exclusive, comprehensive and long-term commitment.”
