A new sports marketing agency has been launched in Sweden and will be led by David Nilsson, a senior executive at the IEC in Sports agency.
W Sportsmedia is headquartered in Stockholm and will work across the sports marketing field through the W Athletes, W Events, W Productions and W Academy divisions.
W Sportsmedia’s executive management consists of chief executive David Nilsson, head of W Productions Karel Jonák, head of W Events Erik Nilsson, head of sponsorships Mari Haugli and head of W Athletes Oskar Svärd.
David Nilsson has a background in the sport marketing business at IEC, where in 2007 he started working with media rights sales being responsible for Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, South and North America.
In 2012 he was appointed as managing director of IEC’s new concept department, BCS, with the responsibility of creating new innovations within sports. The long distance cross country skiing tour, Ski Classics, was one of the concepts created.
David Nilsson said: “W Sportsmedia will be an innovative new player in the sport business world. The company will work across the sport business value chain from athletes to events, media distribution and production to fans. It has been a great time working for IEC in Sports over the last seven years. Now the rest of the W staff and myself are ready to work hard in order to develop our existing, as well as new concepts, even further.”
