The Mediapro agency has launched Gol, a new free-to-air sports channel in Spain.
Gol replaces entertainment channel Veo TV and will feature a range of sports programming, including basketball, cycling, motor-racing and tennis.
The channel has launched with coverage of the International Basketball Federation’s (Fiba) World 3×3 U-18 Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, the DTM German Touring Car Championships and the European Beach Volleyball Championships in Biel and Bienne, Switzerland.
The channel will feature live coverage of events, as well as highlights, round-up shows and news programmes.
Last July, Mediapro withdrew its Gol T football pay-television channel from Spanish digital-terrestrial television, replacing it with Mega, a male-orientated channel featuring some extreme sports programming.
