Modern Times Group, the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, will show live 3D coverage of the 2012 Olympic Games in Norway following a sublicensing agreement with rights-holder NRK, the Norwegian public-service broadcaster.
The live 3D coverage will be shown on MTG’s Viasat 3D channel. It will broadcast more than 100 hours of live coverage across the duration of the Games, with eight hours of live action and four hours of highlights per day.
The events covered by the deal include the men’s 100 metres sprint, swimming, gymnastics and the opening and closing ceremonies.
The 3D coverage of the 2012 Games is being produced by Olympic Broadcasting Services, the Olympic Games’ dedicated television production unit.
