Nascar, the North American stock car-racing series, has launched an interactive and personalised video app with the digital media company, DeskSite.
The Nascar DeskSite app serves as a hub for video content, including interviews with drivers, post-race recaps, in-depth coverage, driver spotlights and breaking news.
The site enables automatic downloads and stores videos directly to devices based on user preferences, allowing fans to view video content offline.
Nascar is the first professional sports property to launch DeskSite, which has partnerships with individual NFL American football, NHL ice hockey and Major League Soccer franchises.
The free on-demand service releases audio-visual alerts to fans that reduce the delay between a video’s initial release and access to the content. The app does not require users to stream the high-definition videos, allowing buffering time to be eliminated.
The platform is currently loaded with content previewing the first Nascar Cup Series points race of the 2017 season. The Daytona 500, which takes place on February 26 at Daytona International Speedway, also has several preview items for fans to peruse.
The Nascar DeskSite is available on Windows and Mac computers, as well as Windows tablets.
