French telecommunications company SFR-Numericable, through its Altice Media Group France division, has confirmed a deal to acquire rights for the Premiership, the top division of rugby union in England.
The deal will run for five years, from 2016-17 to 2020-21.
The agreement was first reported in the TV Sports Markets newsletter last month (TV Sports Markets 19:15).
In June, SFR-Numericable launched a suite of SFR Sport-branded channels following the completion of its acquisition of Altice Media Group France.
The rights will be exploited on the SFR Sport 2 channel, which will show up to three matches on every match day.
SFR Sport 2 will also broadcast a new magazine programme called ‘Between the posts’ to support its live coverage.
