Sky legal action to halt cut-price sale of rights to Mediaset

Plans to keep Dahlia afloat foundered late last week when Telecom Italia Media, a minor shareholder in the service, refused to waive its fees for distributing Dahlia on its digital-terrestrial multiplex. Dahlia’s rights returned to the two leagues, Serie A and Serie B, which invited fresh offers for the rights prior to private negotiations. Sky’s main pay-television rival Mediaset and fledgling digital-terrestrial channel Europa 7 expressed interest in all rights. Agency ImOve expressed interest in the Serie A rights.

The tribunal court of Milan will rule on the injunction on Friday.
