Indian mobile television service Zenga TV has secured the exclusive mobile streaming rights to the inaugural season of the Sri Lanka Premier League Twenty20 cricket competition.
The company brokered the agreement with the Sporty Solutionz agency and will stream all of the tournament’s games live in India.
Shabir Momin, managing director and chief technology officer of Zenga TV, said that the deal had been reached on the back of the successful mobile coverage of India’s international series in Sri Lanka, which ran from July 21 to August 7.
“During the India v Sri Lanka series we streamed just six matches… [but] we crossed 47 million video views,” Momin said. “With 24 matches in the Sri Lanka Premier League, and Indians’ love for cricket, we are sure that viewers in India will be glued to the matches wanting to catch the action live and on the go.”
The inaugural season of the Sri Lanka Premier League started on Saturday and will run to August 31.
