Swedish public-service broadcaster SVT has acquired rights for motor-racing’s World Rallycross Championship.
The agreement will run for three years, from 2016 to 2018.
The deal was brokered by the IMG agency on behalf of the FIA, motorsport’s global governing body.
The 2016 series will feature 12 events, beginning with Montalegre in Portugal on April 16-17 and concluding with Rosario in Argentina on November 26-27.
“The development of rallycross is something that we have been following closely at SVT during the past couple of years, and we are delighted to be offering the full championship series to our viewers from next year,” SVT head of sports Per Yng said.
Paul Bellamy, World Rallycross managing director for IMG, added: “Rallycross is very popular in Sweden so this is a key market for us. The exposure and awareness the event will receive on terrestrial TV through SVT is very important for the sport.”
