Chinese internet company Tencent has acquired rights for the upcoming Rio 2016 summer Olympic Games in a sublicensing deal with state broadcaster CCTV.
Tencent’s rights cover the Chinese mainland. The internet company will provide coverage of all 17 days of the event across its various online platforms.
The deal is reportedly worth about $15m (€13.4m), according to the Yutang Sports news website.
Tencent is also a partner of the Chinese Olympic Committee.
