Traffic busy with rights deals in Europe and Africa

Traffic, which is in the process of being acquired by French media group Lagardère, did the majority of its business in Portugal, where pay-television broadcaster Sport TV agreed a deal for the 2011 Copa America, which takes place in Argentina in July, and two-year deals, from 2011 to 2012, for the Copa Libertadores, South America’s equivalent of the Uefa Champions League, and the Copa do Brasil, the Brazilian Cup.

German sports broadcaster Sport1 acquired both the television and internet rights for the 2011 Copa America while Norwegian commercial broadcaster TV2 and pan-African broadcaster Supersport acquired the television rights to Argentina’s home 2014 World Cup qualifiers for Norway and sub-Saharan Africa respectively.
