German commercial broadcaster RTL has sublicensed live rights to Formula One’s Friday practice sessions to news channel n-tv.
RTL and n-tv, both owned by the RTL media group, have operated a similar agreement in the past. RTL has also previously sublicensed rights to the Friday practice sessions to sports broadcaster Sport1.
RTL has struggled to find room in its own schedule for the sessions, which are of interest mainly to hardcore motorsports fans.
The deal begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix practice sessions on April 20.
