Pan-regional broadcaster Modern Times Group agreed a five-year deal, from 2012 to 2016, with the German-based boxing promoter Sauerland Event for rights to between five and seven events a year.
MTG will broadcast coverage of the boxing series across its channels in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and Sauerland aims to boost boxing in Scandinavia by exposing its boxers to a higher calibre of opponent.
The first of the ‘Nordic Fight Nights’ will take place in Copenhagen on February 18, and will feature a world title bout between WBA interim super-middleweight champion Brian Magee and Danish challenger Rudy Markussen.
Other fighters lined up for the series include Mikkel Kessler, Mads Larsen, Reda Zam Zam, Patrick Nielsen, Micki Nielsen, Torben Keller and WBA/WBC/WBO female welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus.
