German sports broadcaster Sportdigital has agreed rights deals for the top-tier domestic football leagues in France and Italy, Ligue 1 and Serie A, with the MP & Silva agency.
The deal for the French Ligue 1 is a new acquisition for the sports broadcaster, while the Serie A deal represents a renewal.
Sportdigital will show two or three live matches per match day from the French Ligue 1, and two live Serie A matches per match day, plus weekly highlights programmes from both leagues.
Gisbert Wundram, chief executive officer at Sportdigital, said: “Securing the live broadcasting rights on French Ligue 1 and extending the rights on Italian Serie A is an important step in our programme strategy with our focus on international top-class football. Both leagues belong to the strongest ones in the world and make our football program even more attractive for our subscribers. Together with our other football rights we are well prepared for the new season and we can promise our fans and viewers an extremely attractive live experience.”
