TV3 Sport picks up IndyCar rights

Danish broadcaster TV3 Sport, part of multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster Modern Times Group, has acquired rights to US motor racing series IndyCar.

Terms of the deal were undisclosed, but TV3 Sport will commence its coverage with the first race of the 2015 IndyCar season on March 29, the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida.

TV3 Sport has acquired IndyCar rights with Danish star Kevin Magnussen heavily linked to a drive in the series.

Magnussen lost his seat at Formula One team McLaren at the end of the 2014 season, but was yesterday (Tuesday) confirmed as Fernando Alonso’s replacement for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 15.

Alonso has been sidelined owing to fitness concerns following a crash in pre-season testing.
