French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus’s new golf channel will launch on July 4.
Golf Plus will be available on satellite and digital-terrestrial television platform CanalSat, and other satellite and IPTV platforms. Canal Plus director Francois Roux said the channel would initially be available for free in a trial period, before a subscription fee of €8 ($10) per month is introduced.
The French Open, running from July 5-8, will be channel’s first live event. Canal Plus has recently acquired several exclusive rights properties to boost its golf portfolio. The broadcaster in April retained rights for Ryder Cup, European Tour, PGA Tour and World Golf Championship events.
“Golf Plus offers the promise to see golf at any time of the day or night, seven days a week,” Canal Plus director of sport Cyril Linette said.
