OTT streaming service FloSports has renewed its sublicensing deal in North America with US streaming platform Fubo for a package of cycling races, including the Giro d’Italia and events operated by the International Cycling Union (UCI).
The renewal, which begins next year, is for non-exclusive rights to nearly 50 events covering road cycling, cyclocross, BMX, track cycling and mountain biking.
The inventory includes: the UCI World Championships; UCI Cyclocross World Cup; UCI Track World Cup; RCS Sports-owned events such as the Giro d’Italia and Milan-San Remo; and the Flanders Classics.
The length of the deal is undisclosed.
Under the agreement, FloSport’s rights to UCI events are limited to Canada, while its rights to the other events encompass the whole of North America, the company’s director of global rights acquisitions and partnerships, Ryan Fenton, told SportBusiness Media.
It will exploit the rights via the FloBikes.com platform.
The current agreement with Fubo runs for 2018 and 2019.
Both deals were agreed in conjunction with the IMG agency, which holds the international rights to the UCI and RCS events.
The renewal follows FloSports acquisition in June of exclusive rights in Canada to the Tour de France cycling competition from 2020 to 2023.
