Pan-European motorsport channel Motors TV has signed a three-year extension to its rights deal with the Motocross World Championship covering the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons of the series sanctioned by the FIM, motorcycle racing’s governing body.
The new agreement with series promoter Youthstream will see Motors TV air the sport’s two premier categories – MXGP and MX2 – as well as its end-of-season showpiece – the Motocross of Nations (MXoN) – on a live or delayed-as-live basis.
The deal covers European-wide coverage, ensuring that Motors TV’s UK, French and continental platforms, which serve a total of 25 million households across 42 countries, will have access to the championship.
Motors TV has carried live coverage of the Motocross World Championship since 2008.
The opening round of this year’s World Championship will be shown live from Qatar on March 1.
