German sports broadcaster Sport1 has agreed a two-year extension to its rights deal for the World Rally Championship motorsport series.
The deal, agreed with the WRC’s commercial rights-holder WRC Promoter, covers the 2017 and 2018 seasons of the championship in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The agreement includes platform-neutral multimedia rights, as well as exclusivity for live broadcasts on television in the respective three territories.
Sport1 has been a WRC broadcast partner since 2010. The 2017 WRC season commences on January 19 with the Rallye Monte Carlo. Germany’s round on the calendar, ADAC Rallye Deutschland, is scheduled for August 17-20.
